HALL

Harper transformed her one-bedroom apartment on the Upper East Side into a vibrant retreat. She found the gilded Louis XVI mirror at a Paris flea market, and the zebra Louis XV–style bombé chest was discovered on 1stdibs.

BEATRIZ DE COSTA

Living Room

"I rarely use red," notes Harper, who nevertheless placed the hue in the details of the living room — from tassels to piping on the armchairs. "A little goes a long way." The zebra rug is vintage, purchased at London's Portobello Road market. The Ming cocktail table is by Harper's company, Lamshop.

COFFEE TABLE

"I have zebras everywhere," Harper says. "They're so graphic, and every one has a different pattern, which I find interesting." The bookcase is from C. Bell in West Palm Beach, Florida.

SIDEBOARD

Harper has infused her living room with items collected on her travels. She purchased the tapestry from an antiques store in High Point, North Carolina. The gilded apple sculpture (note the lips!) is by artist Liz Marsh.

RIGHT NIGHTSTAND

On the opposite side, Harper placed some of her favorite things: malachite, Southern art and a leopard-print turban.
